We met “K” while she was being hosted by our family members in December. She is a bright eyes, tiny, ball of energy who captured our hearts. As we have been praying about adoption for a few years, we thought this was a wonderful gift from God to be able to meet her and get to know her in person. After her visit ended we started the adoption process.
Adoption can be described as a crazy roller coaster that takes sharp turns without any warning, all of that is so true and we have already experienced some sharp turns with more to come in the next few months. We are however greatly encouraged by prayer and support of friends and family members on our journey so far. We worry about being able to afford this adoption, but we truly believe that when we give God all that we have, He will provide. The adoption costs are a little over thirty thousand dollars, which includes the cost of traveling to Ukraine 3 times for both parents. We will also use up all of our vacation days for these trips and it’s likely that one of us might have to take unpaid time off, because of lack of vacation time. We would like to avoid going into debt to complete this adoption, thus we have been working to identify various grants, and fundraiser opportunities.
We are not able to share more information about our adoptive child at this time, due to privacy requirements, so on the family picture the face is blocked by a heart 🙂
